Arusha NP is one of the smallest in the area but is known for its diverse scenery: swamps, plains, mountain and the Ngordoto crater. Tarangire National park was the next park on our list. Some books describe this park as one of the few places where you can still admire the African nature the way it was intended.

A true forest in Tanzania
What an adventure driving to Emau Hill. The road was muddy and steep. The last kilometers we had to walk. The owners are very unfriendly but the location is perfect and we saw a lot of chameleons. The next day we went to Lushoto and did a hike to Irente Viewpoint. We drove further to Moshi and saw the Kilimanjaro.
The Tanzanian Coast: what an experience!
Since Dar es Salaam isn’t exactly the ‘place to be’ we left early the next morning in the direction of Bagamoyo, a little fishing village 70 km North of Dar. Welcome to paradise at Zanzibar
The boutique hotel is actually a huge beach house with a colonial touch. The Italian owners decorated the seven rooms in a beautiful way. It truly was a paradise. Moreover the location was perfect. When you go down the stairs of the garden you step onto the white beach with palm trees at either side.
The beautiful alleys of the old city Stone Town
After two hours on the boat we arrived in the little harbor of Stone Town. The special thing about Stone Town are all these little alleys that make you feel like your going back in time. There lots of culture and the fact that you can easily walk through this city is what makes it unique in Africa.
To the top of Sanje falls at Udzungwa National Park
The goal for today was to reach the top of the highest waterfall, Sanje Waterfall, in Tanzania. With its 180 meters that’s quite a tough mission. After we had seen the top our guide Charles insisted on showing us the base as well. All the way at the bottom it became clear how high the waterfalls actually were.
Hallelujah: Camping, Crossing, Coffee
Once you cross the border with Tanzania everything changes. Luckily for us we only had to drive a short distance to the Utengule Coffee Lodge. You don’t expect anything from it when you consider the state of the road leading towards it but once you’re there it’s just like paradise especially if you’re a coffee addict.
