In the north of Namibia you’ll find Damaraland. This is a desert area with rocky mountains. We started in Brandberg at The White Lady Lodge and continued our trip to Twyfelfontein in search of the desert elephants. We visited the rock engravings and the organ pipes.

What a great spot for stargazing at Spitzkoppe
The best way to experience Spitzkoppe is by camping. We climbed a rock to watch the sun set with a wine in our hands. Back at the campsite we made a fire and ate a lovely meal under the stars. Because the sky was so clear we could see the Milky Way. What a wonderful place!!!
Etosha National Park: the luxurious way
The last destination we visited together with my parents was Etosha National Park. The highlight and the most central point of the park is the Etosha Pan. This huge salt pan is only occasionally flooded due to the rain and the nearby rivers. We were so lucky to experience amazing sightings…
The Namibian coast: Walvis Bay and Henties Bay
The lagoon is probably the best part of Walvis Bay. After a short stroll we arrived at this beautiful spot. We were welcomed by dozens of flamingos! The next day we went to Cape Cross. We were surprised by the number Cape Fur Seals and how close you could get to them.
Flying over the Sossusvlei in a Cessna
The dunes in and around the Sossusvlei were already spectacular from the ground. Desert Air offer Cessna flights over the Sossusvlei. In 45 minutes we flew over the Sesriem Canyon, Dune 45, the Deadvlei, the Sossusvlei and the Fairy Circles. For a short impression check out the video!
Just in time for the beautiful Deadvlei
One of the most famous dunes in Namibia are the Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. We slept in the Sossusvlei Dune Lodge. Next to the pretty houses you also have the opportunity to visit the Sossusvlei before sunrise and after sunset. Read how we got stuck and made it just in time..
Desert drone video in the oldest desert in the world
While staying on the edge of the oldest desert in the world, the Namib, we hiked on the property of the Namtib Biosphere Reserve. Just before the sun became too hot we made it back home. We were lucky enough to see two ‘klipspringers’ along the way!
Highlight of Namibia: the Fish River Canyon
It was in the afternoon when we arrived at our first piece of paradise: Gondwana Canyon Village. Lovely little cottages that were build around a square with cactuses and an amazing view on the desert and the mountains.
Wildcamping at the Brukkaros Crater
There used to be a camping near the Brukkaros Crater but now everything is deserted. There is one campsite at the bottom of the crater and one higher up near the lip of the crater. You’ll have to take a rocky 4×4 road to get up there. Guess which one we took.
